Competition open: Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program
Awards are offered to Canadian citizens pursuing studies/research at the Master’s or PhD level in subject areas related to China.
Awards available are for studies and research, for a combination of studies and language studies or for language studies only.
Awards are also available to Canadian faculty members pursuing research in subject areas related to China.
Scholarship Value
The award includes:
· tuition fees;
· basic living allowance;
· on-campus accommodation;
· medical insurance;
· teaching and research materials *; and
· transportation to and from the destination in China via the most cost-effective route through Beijing or Shanghai. Travel arrangements must be made by the scholarship administrator authorized by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. Meals and accommodation will be provided by the Chinese Ministry of Education during stopovers in Beijing/Shanghai en route to the final destination.
Scholarship Duration
The scholarship is for four to twelve months from the date of arrival in China.
The Chinese academic year starts in September and ends in early July, including a winter vacation of about three weeks in January or February.
Eligibility
Applicants:
· must be Canadian citizens;
· must be faculty members at Canadian universities or students who have a bachelor's degree or are enrolled in a graduate program;
· must be proficient in written and oral Chinese unless otherwise exempted by their host university in China; and
· must undertake studies in an approved subject area in a Chinese university.
